Vicetemple Video Player: How To Add Advertisement Banners
The PornX theme allows you to add a set of two banners over any video player on the website. However, most players will show the same banners before video playback and on pause. If you’d like to display different banners before playback and on pause, the Vicetemple Video Player plugin will make it possible.
If you wish to include ads on other locations on your website, check our complete advertisement guide. Also, see this guide if you’d like to set up video advertisements on playback.
Before we begin, you should make sure that the Vicetemple Video Player plugin is activated or installed on your copy of PornX. If you’ve already activated the plugin, continue with the steps described below.
Navigate to your website and log in with your admin account. The Login option is located in the top right corner of your website.
Note: You can find your admin login details in one of the support tickets in the Vicetemple client area. If you’re not sure where to find them, feel free to send us a message over live chat.
When you log in, hover over your website’s name in the top left corner of the admin toolbar, and click Theme Customizer when the menu appears.
Find and click on the Advertising Settings row when the customization panel loads.
Next, select the third group — Vicetemple Player Settings.
Note: If you only see Desktop Settings and Mobile Settings but not the Vicetemple Player Settings group, you will need to install and activate the Vicetemple Video Player plugin.
Once you’ve opened Vicetemple Player Settings, four options will be shown. You can use them to configure two banners that will be shown before playback and two banners that will be displayed on pause. Each option has two fields, which will be explained below.
Supported Banner Types
The plugin supports the two most common types of advertisement banners: dynamic (iframe) and image.
To add a dynamic banner, copy the iframe code from your advertiser and paste it into the first field for your chosen banner location. Leave the second field (Direct to) empty when using iframe banners.
To add an image banner, copy a direct link to the image you want to show in the banner area, and paste it into the first field for your chosen banner location.
If the banner only serves an aesthetic purpose, you may leave the second field — Direct to — empty. On the other hand, if you want the banner to direct to a different page or website on click, or you have an affiliate link, paste the link into the Direct to field.
Note: Supported image formats include png, jpg, and gif.
The iframe and image methods can be repeated for all banner locations described below.
Here we will cover the four banner locations that can be set up by using the Theme Customizer.
Primary Playback Ad
You can configure the first banner before playback in the two fields under Primary playback ad in Vicetemple Player Settings. In the user area, the banner is located on the left side of the video player, just before a video is played.
Secondary Playback Ad
You can configure the second banner before playback in the two fields under Secondary playback ad in Vicetemple Player Settings. In the user area, the banner is located on the right side of the video player, just before a video is played.
If you’ve added just one playback advertisement — either the left or the right one, the banner will be shown at the center.
Primary Ad on Pause
You can configure the first banner on pause in the two fields under Primary ad on pause in Vicetemple Player Settings. In the user area, the banner is located on the left side of the video player when a video is paused.
Secondary Ad on Pause
You can configure the second banner on pause in the two fields under Secondary ad on pause in Vicetemple Player Settings. In the user area, the banner is located on the right side of the video player when a video is paused.
Much like the previous set of banners, if you’ve added just one advertisement on pause — either the left or the right one, the banner will be shown at the center.
Once you’ve set up all your advertisement banners, click Publish at the top of the customizer to save the changes.
